The Year I decided to start my health coach business, start a blog/YouTube channel and most importantly Homeschool my girls.
Samantha Stokes-Wife, Mom of 2 girls, Nurse, Certified Holistic Nutritionist, and Functional Medicine Coach
6am – I wake up and feed the kitty Bandit and our guinea pigs Oreo and DJ Tanner. Then I make my cup of warm lemon water and straighten up the living room. I start to boil my water and make my French press coffee. After drinking my lemon water, I start my daily breath work and prayer.
7am-I fix my coffee. I map out my day. I’m already feeling like I’m not doing something right. I am sitting here on my couch enjoying my morning ?! I am not rushed to wake the girls anymore?!, this is so strange but totally awesome. I could get use to this real fast. Im smiling because I know I get to spend a lot of time with them now on this new chapter in our lives. I have dreamt of this for a while now. This summer I started working night shift in order to accommodate to our needs. It is so worth it ! I also write my blog posts or youtube video content during this time as well.
8am- I wake up the girls. I tell them it’s time for school. They automatically start moaning and panicking like they need to hurry hurry ! They have been living the last 8 years feeling like “Im late , Im late for a very important date”. It is time t shift their little worlds and make it full of wonder and adventure. That is my mission this year!!! I want them to love to learn , not be scared of it. So yes I have some work to do but I am determined to make this the best experience for my little ladies.
So to get them excited, I said “Wake up lets go to school in our pajamas today, it will be our yearly tradition! They both looked at each other and smiled—OK !Mom.
8:15 am- they brush their teeth and we do our morning breath work/motivational meditation.
Then we start our day with reading. No we don’t eat breakfast first, why you ask? Well its too early to eat for them, they aren’t hungry until about 10 am so we just start our day fasting unintentionally.
8:45 am -we start Spanish on Time4Learning- Rosetta Stone. Riley is loving Spanish ! We may have found one of her passions , Yay!!!
9:30 am – Depends on the day : we choose Science or history.
10 am- time for BREAKfast!!! Yay. We take this time to make homemade waffles fritters or pancakes together. (Check out our YouTube channel for recipes and tips on healthy living ).
We talk and laugh. This is so nice, I get to talk and enjoy my girls everyday , not just on the weekends?! PINCH ME am I dreaming?!
No I am a mom determined to what’s best for her little ones and I made accommodations in order to make this work.
10:45 am- We clean up the kitchen
11 am- We start Math. Reese really loves math !
12 pm -Language Arts
12:30pm- we do some learning games together.
1 pm- We eat Lunch and play outside/inside.
Of course we are in Louisiana, so there isn’t much playing outside in August it is too hot! So we play legos inside. While they play , I study or do research.
I am in functional medicine practitioner school. Im a nurse, certified holistic nutritionist and functional medicine coach/lifestyle coach.
2pm we start on chores around the house and clean to get ready for a relaxing evening.
5:30 pm- They greet Dad at the door. He is home. We start cooking -we cook together and do our porch sitting. By this time the sun is behind the trees and the girls start playing in their pool. We are so incredibly happy ! We are all together !
9:00 pm some bed time reading. I am not going to lie to you. Getting them to read more has been difficult, so it is something we are working on. We are reading together right now- because that’s what works.
9:30 pm- We tuck the girls in bed.
I work on my health coaching business stuff, youtube content and many other things. I end my day with breath work and prayer.
10:30 I make sure to be in the bed. Sleep is a priority in our home. It has helped us achieve optimal wellness.
